On February 20th a meeting among Thammasat University and DEIagra, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bologna and Bioagricoop, has been held in Bangkok to discuss about the start up of the new Master of Science in Organic Farming Management.
Faculty of Science and Technology, Thammasat University, is ready to launch a Master of Science on Organic Farming Management. The programme will be officially started this June or November 2008.
During the meeting, Master course contents have been discussed and the opportunity to submit a proposal to Thailand-EC Cooperation Facility has been considered. The candidate project could set the bases to give an International scope to the master course, taking advantage from the experience of the European universities and Institutions participating into the BEAN-QUORUM network.
Additionally, credit transfer system and mutual recognition of degree among the universities could be explored and put in practice.
The idea is also to integrate a stronger component of Geographical Indications (GIs) lectures into the mandatory and/or elective courses.
As a matter of fact, Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) such as GIs are already addressed by the Master course, but they need to be further integrated into the course program, considering the growing attention paid by political and private sector operators to this kind of quality food.
