The preparation of the Organic Asia conference is entering the final phase. Organic ASIA 2008, 28 - 31 October 2008, Sarawak Cultural Village, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia
Conference input will include presentations on the International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD) report issued in mid-April. Also presentations from UNCTAD and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) on the relevance of organic agriculture to climate change mitigation and adaptation as well as achievement of our Millennium Development Goals.
Besides the presentations on innovations and prospects in production and marketing, there will be workshops on Best Practice for Organic Policy and Building Sustainable Organic Sectors in collaboration with UNCTAD and IFOAM, and sector development discussion forums for participants such as yourself to actively discuss policy recommendations and regional collaboration follow up priorities.
Up to a 100 participants, i.e. researchers, producers, marketers, certification bodies, organic movement leaders as well as government officials implementing organic related development programmes in the region, have signed up.
