A one-week course on organic food marketing in Asia is taught at the BOKU, Universität für Bodenkultur Wien - University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna by the guest professor Maurizio Canavari, Associate Professor at the Alma Mater Studiorum-University of Bologna.
The module is an elective course and is aimed at giving an overview of marketing issues regarding the domestic production, trade, distribution and consumption of organic food in the Asian context. The module is based on a presentation of the main peculiar features of the Asian market for organic food, building on previous literature and on case studies/surveys developed in collaboration with Chinese and Thai researchers during the Asia-Link BEAN-QUORUM project.
As a final assignement, the students who attended the course will prepare a short report on the marketing of organic food in an Asian country of their choice. The reports on Vietnam, China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are due by the 29th of May, 2009.
