Call for International Scholars at IMaHS-International Master's Program in Horticultural Sciences

January 20, 2011

The Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna Faculty of Agriculture calls for applications by scholars to teach in the International Master’s Program in Horticultural Sciences.

The International Master in Horticultural Sciences is jointly offered by the Alma Mater
Studiorum University of Bologna (UNIBO), the Technical University of Munich (TUM,
Weihenstephan, Germany) and the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences,
Vienna (BOKU).

The strong integration among three European leading Universities provides a wide range of
complementary expertises contributing to create a holistic preparation for the future
graduates. The teaching staff includes 28 EU professors and 5 Third-country
scholars.

Scholars must apply for specific teaching and research subjects within the
disciplines listed in fields 1 to 8 (table 1-4), selected each year by the steering committee of the Master. The selection process will be performed by a panel of professors named by the three universities. Other parameters for selection are the professional and academic experience (on the basis of C.V. and publications) that have to add an additional value to the courses, bringing either a practical or geographical perspective, or case studies on specific issues.
The calls will equally split the number of scholars among the three Universities. The role of the Scholars will be teaching activities in the fields 1-8. Besides teaching, scholars are invited to join ongoing research projects which will initialize further cooperation. During the development of these projects the scholars are requested to
monitor students implementing the research through their thesis work. According to this, the selection of scholars will also foresee the evaluation of the research project.

Concerning payments for third countries scholars, the Consortium will pay the fixed
amount of 1000 € and the first monthly rate (4000 €), prior of the arrival of the scholar. The
rest of the amount will be adapted depending on the lenght of the period of stay.
